ITINERARY
WHY SHOULD I VISIT ASSAM?
Day 01: Guwahati – Shillong (Approx 100 km / 3 hrs):
Welcome to Guwahati! Our driver will wait to welcome you at the airport or train station. We'll then head to Shillong, the "Scotland of the East." Our first stop will be at the breathtaking Umium Lake (Barapani), where you can enjoy optional water sports. Upon arrival in Shillong, we'll check you into your hotel. You can explore the most prominent local market in the evening, Police Bazaar. You'll be spending the night comfortably in Shillong.
Day 02: Shillong - Cherrapunji - Shillong (Approx 65 km / 1.5 hrs per way):
Make the most of your visit by waking up early to witness the breathtaking mornings of Shillong. Then, start your day with a hearty breakfast and head straight to Cherrapunji - the wettest place on earth. Explore numerous attractions here, including the Eco Park, Dainthlen Falls, Nohkalikai Falls, Nohsngithiang Falls (also called Seven Sisters Falls), Elephanta Falls, Mawsmai Cave, and Thangkharang Park. After a full day of exploration, return to Shillong for the evening and spend the night there.
Day3: Shillong- Dawki-Mawlynnong-Shillong (Approx 90 km / 3 hrs per way):
Join us for an exhilarating full-day excursion to Dawki and Mawlynnong's breathtaking destinations, acclaimed as Asia's cleanest village. Our adventure commences in the morning with a scenic drive to Dawki, where you can explore the Indo-Bangladesh border and the spectacular Umngot River. A country boat ride can be arranged for a nominal fee for those seeking an added thrill.
Next, you will journey to the picturesque Mawalynnong village, renowned for its stunning natural beauty. A trek to the living root bridge in the neighboring village of Riwai is a must-see, as is the natural balancing rock, an intriguing phenomenon where a boulder rests on another rock. You can enjoy exploring the village in your free time, and a brisk 30-minute trek to the living root bridge is also available.
As the sun sets, you will go to Shillong, concluding an unforgettable day trip.
Day 4. Shillong- Kaziranga (Approx 200 km / 6 hrs):
Once you arrive, you will be taken directly to Kaziranga National Park, the natural habitat of the One Horn Indian Rhinoceros. Upon arrival, your accommodation of choice will be ready to check-in. In the evening, visit the nearby Orchid Park and Tea Plantations. Your overnight stay will be at Kaziranga National Park.
Day 5: Kaziranga - Bomdila (Approx 150 km / 5 hrs):
Start your day off right with a Jeep Safari through Kaziranga National Park (optional). This park is home to some of the World'sWorld's most endangered animals, including the One Horn Indian Rhinoceros and genetically pure Wild Water Buffaloes. You'll also have the chance to see over 1000 Wild elephants and the densest population of Royal Bengal Tiger anywhere. For those who love birds, the park is a great place to visit because it is home to more than 500 species of birds, including the Crested Serpent Eagle, Palla's Fishing Eagle, Grey-headed Fishing Eagle, Swamp Partridge, Bar-headed goose, whistling Teal, Bengal Florican, Storks, Herons, and Pelicans. It's quite an impressive collection! After the safari, we'll head back to the resort for Breakfast.
You'll hit the road again and head towards Bomdila. On the way, you'll stop by the Orchid Research Centre Tipi, an orchidarium home to around 10,000 orchid plants from various genera and species. This is a fantastic opportunity to see the country's most extensive range of orchids, which can be found in Arunachal. As we drive, be sure to keep your cameras at the ready to capture the stunning waterfalls and breathtaking views. You'll also stop at Nag Mandir on our way to our overnight stay in Dirang.
Day 6: Bomdila – Tawang (Approx 140 km / 6 hrs):
Today, you will embark on a breathtaking journey to Tawang. On the way, you will have the opportunity to pay your respects at the war cemetery. As you continue your drive, you will be amazed by the majestic Sela Pass, standing tall at an impressive altitude of 4170 meters or 13700 feet. This location is renowned for its awe-inspiring high-altitude lakes and stunning scenery. Take a moment to appreciate the bravery of Jaswant Singh Rawat, a true Indian hero, at the Jaswant Garh War Memorial. You will also witness the beauty of Nuranang Falls (Jang Falls). Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and prepare for an unforgettable overnight stay in Tawang.
Day 07: Tawang Sight Seeing:
After enjoying a hearty breakfast, you're presented with two exciting options for the day. The first option is to venture to the breathtaking Bum La Pass at the Indo-China border. It's important to note that you'll need to procure a permit from the DC office in Tawang beforehand. You also have the option to explore the breathtaking Sangestar Lake, also known as Madhuri Lake, and Pangateng Tso Lake also referred to as P.Tso Lake. Please remember that you'll need to hire a local taxi in Tawang at your cost to visit these places, as our vehicles are not permitted.
If you're seeking a more relaxed day, visit the Tawang Monastery (Namgey Lhatse), Buddha Statue, and Tawang War Memorial Light and Sound Show. However, if you choose to visit Bumla Pass and Madhuri Lake, it may only be possible to fit some of these attractions into one day. In the evening, return to the hotel for a comfortable overnight stay in Tawang.
Day 8 Tawang – Bomdila (Approx 190 km / 7 hrs):
Once you've finished your Breakfast, it's time to make your way to Bomdila and check in at your hotel. Make sure to maximize your time by visiting the Bomdila Monastery, Bomdila View Point, and Apple Orchards, all of which offer awe-inspiring panoramic views of the magnificent Himalayan landscapes and snow-capped peaks. Come evening, take a leisurely stroll through the local market before settling in for the night at your Bomdila hotel.
Day 9: Bomdila – Guwahati (Approx 335 km / 7 hrs):
After Breakfast, you will be promptly escorted to Guwahati, where you will check in at your hotel. You will have ample leisure time in the evening to indulge in your preferred activities.
Day 10: Departure from Guwahati:
Start your day early and make your way to Maa Kamakya, where you can savor a delicious packed breakfast. It's worth exploring the stunning temples in Guwahati, including the Purva Tirupati Shri Balaji Temple, Sukreswar Temple, Navagraha Temple, and Umananda Temple. Take the chance to visit the Umananda Temple, located on Peacock Island, the World's smallest inhabited river island.
